The TED conference needs no more introduction. TED's 'ideas worth spreading' are watched by millions. Yoko K. was invited to present her creative process and explain what motivates her to write music.
April Release: "Peacefully Pounding"
April 26, 2010.
Small drops of love rain down. There is fire in your heart but a gentle wind in your spirit. You hold someone you love close to you and wish time would stand still. Peacefully your hearts echo each other. Kolai and Selective Intelligence are behind the original mix and Ustoz, the Teacher from Tashkent, gives us a splendid dark and yearning remix.
March Release: "On a Clear Night"
April 5, 2010.
This beautiful earthy love balad produced by Kolai (T-Kolai) features lush strings and percussions. Ahmed Simour and dj Oji revisit this gem with dancehall/dubstep and soulful no-nonsense-4-on-the-floor mixes
What's Yoko K. up to?
April 3, 2010.
You'll be glad to know that Yoko K is working on her new album. Over the winter she found a beautiful space to call her own on Capitol Hill. She spent most of the winter analyzing the space for acoustic problems, and coming up with solutions to make her studio sound juuuust raaight... The impact on her music? Tangible. Her latest mixes sound incredible! Can't wait for this second opus!
Check out dj Kimozaki & friends at Park this Saturday Apr 3!
April 1, 2010.
Kimozaki's all about the live infused house set. That sets him appart of most djs in this town. He just doesn't feel as happy playing alone as he does with Kolai (flute/sax) or Tom Pipkin on jembe and congas. They first graced the patio at Park in the Fall of 2009. Now that Spring is here they're back! Watch out for guest percussionists Mehdi, Khalid, and friends on darbuka for a distinctly Moroccan flavor!
GAIA was a BLAST!
March 27, 2010.
Once again the krew came together and pulled off a beautiful night. Lulu Fall and Selective Intelligence sounded wonderful on stage with Andrew Fahs, The Unknown, and Kolai. Tom Pipkin split the air with conga riffs from another planet. Kimozaki and Cortega brought back some old forgotten classics and has us on our feet the entire night. Juan and Lina painted the walls with cherry blossoms, mountains, and skies. Ayoko Confidential landed their spaceship Orbs to show us the beauty of interactive creation. What can we say about David London's amazing magical feats... OUT OF THIS WORLD! GAIA... Yeah... it's something else...
Yoko K. Japan Concert Photos!
Sept 15th , 2009.
They performed on a floating barge. In the middle of a rehabilitated marchland once considered a chemical wasteland but now home to endangered species of animals and plants. Surrounded by LED lights reflecting on the water. With the best sound you've ever heard. Just look at the photos.
